METALFORM, FABTECH International and AWS Welding Show Announce Strategic Alliance
First combined trade show will take place November 15-18, 2009, at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL
Four industry-leading trade show organizers have formed an alliance to better serve the needs of trade show exhibitors and manufacturers in North America from the fields of fabricating, tube & pipe, welding and cutting, metalforming, and related processes. The show alliance between the three organizers of the FABTECH International & AWS Welding Show [the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association International (FMA) and the American Welding Society (AWS)] and the organizer of METALFORM [the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA)] will result in a combined annual exhibition.
In addition to the exhibits and educational presentations, several other events will take place during METALFORM: Plant tours of Atlantic Tool & Die, Anniston, AL, will be held Monday, March 31. PMA will present its annual Awards of Excellence in Metalforming at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 1, honoring innovators in the areas of design, training and education, productivity, product development, safety, quality and process control. Also on April 1, the second-annual Next Generation Leaders Day will be held. A "Women in Metalforming" Coffee is scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, 8-9 a.m. PMA Student Day, scheduled for Thursday, April 3, invites students and teachers to learn more about the wide array of career opportunities available in the metalforming industry. And lastly, all attendees have an opportunity to go home a winner by playing the PMA Educational Foundation’s METALFORM bingo game.

METALFORM Mexico Surpasses All Expectations
Top executives and professionals in the metalforming industry viewed the latest advancements in press and forming technologies, assembly automation and value-added services at METALFORM Mexico—Mexico’s only focused metal stamping and fabricating exposition and conference. Held September 25-27, 2007, at the Cintermex in Monterrey, the fourth edition of METALFORM Mexico featured 179 exhibitors offering equipment and services designed to help companies improve productivity and efficiency. More than 2,000 attendees visited the trade show, marking a nearly 40 percent surge in attendance compared to the last Monterrey event.
The regional shows continue to gain popularity as they move down the I-65 corridor, in the area known as “Automotive Alley.” The next stop is the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, AL. Due to overwhelming response, the original 40,000-square-foot show floor has been expanded to house the maximum exhibit space allowable in the hall—48,000 net square feet. New Labor Contracts Lower Exhibitor Costs in Rosemont
In 2007, Rosemont will be able to offer METALFORM exhibitors new cost savings on labor. In June 2006, the Chicago area Local 136 Riggers Union entered into a new five-year agreement that includes several new cost-savings features.
New Package Plans Lower Exhibitor Costs
In order to help exhibitors defray the cost of bringing large equipment to the show, METALFORM is offering a new square footage drayage package plan. The plan, available to all exhibitors as an optional purchase, includes loading/unloading, labor, spotting of equipment and removal, storage and return of empty packing materials.
